AssemblyAI improves speaker diarization accuracy and introduces billing alerts
AssemblyAI announced significant improvements to its speaker diarization service, improving speaker identification accuracy by up to 13% over the previous model, according to AI Assembly. This update puts AssemblyAI at the forefront of the market, offering the best performance in identifying the correct number of speakers across vendors.
Speaker diarization updates
With the latest updates, Speaker Diaration by AssemblyAI now supports 16 languages, including the newly added Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese. This improvement aims to increase the readability of transcripts and enable features such as automated video cropping, call coaching, and automated dubbing.
Speaker diarization is critical for accurately identifying and separating different speakers in an audio recording, which is essential for various applications, including meeting transcription, multimedia production, and customer service automation.
New Billing Alerts feature
In addition to speaker diarization improvements, AssemblyAI has introduced a new billing alerts feature. This tool allows users to set balance thresholds in the billing dashboard, receiving email notifications when the balance reaches the specified limit. This proactive approach helps users manage their expenses effectively and avoid unexpected charges.

AssemblyAI has also expanded its Universal-1 model to support German, enabling fast and accurate transcription in English, Spanish and German. Additionally, the company has improved its models for personally identifiable information (PII) text redaction and entity detection, increasing accuracy in detecting and removing sensitive information from transcripts.
