Binance resumes payments with Mastercard for cryptocurrencies
Binance may once again allow Mastercard users to buy cryptocurrencies on the world’s largest exchange after the card giant disabled this functionality in August 2023.
“Following a thorough review of the rigorous controls and processes Binance has in place, Mastercard has decided to allow Binance-related purchases on its network,” a Binance spokesperson said via email. “We look forward to adding support for additional products, such as withdrawals, at a later date.”
Mastercard confirmed the restoration of service, but added a caveat.
“Over the past few months, we have reviewed the improved controls and processes that Binance has put in place. It is based on these efforts that we have decided to allow Binance-related purchases on our network,” a Mastercard spokesperson told CoinDesk. “This status depends on ongoing reviews.”
