BIS finds that a third of jurisdictions are not developing crypto regulations
Most jurisdictions that responded to a survey by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) are developing regulation on cryptocurrencies, although central bank uncertainty over their use remains.
Some 86 central banks responded to the BIS 2023 survey on central bank digital currency (CBDC) and cryptocurrencies. About two-thirds said their jurisdictions were developing regulatory frameworks.
About half are crafting bespoke regulations because the features and risks associated with crypto wouldn’t fit.
