Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) among the cryptocurrencies accepted by the Trump campaign

Donald J. Trump’s presidential campaign on Tuesday has started accepting cryptocurrency donationsfulfilling the presumptive Republican nominee’s promise to become the first major party candidate to embrace bitcoin, ether and other digital currencies.

The move comes weeks after the former president declared himself a cryptocurrency candidate during a Mar-a-Lago gala introducing cryptocurrencies to the 2024 campaign.

Trump’s campaign said in a statement will “build a crypto army” to fight the infamous “anti-crypto army” that Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren campaigned on.

While Trump has yet to propose concrete policies regarding cryptocurrencies, supporters of his position accept the positive voices as sufficient. This is largely due to the fact that Joe Biden’s administration has taken a strongly anti-crypto stance in the past.

The emergence of cryptocurrencies as a bona fide campaign issue could change Democrats’ calculations, as evidenced in the House Democratic leadership’s decision over the past 24 hours do not push its members against an upcoming crypto policy bill.
