According to Bitrefill, restaurant chain Domino’s Pizza topped the list with 3,012 cryptocurrency pizza orders over the past year. Papa John’s and Pizza Hut come in second and third with 473 and 173 such purchases, respectively.
Here are the top five US states for crypto pizza orders, according to Bitrefill analysis:
- California with 266 transactions.
- Texas with 211 transactions.
- Florida with 161 transactions.
- New York with 141 transactions.
- Washington with 136 transactions.
Bitrefill’s report comes as the crypto community celebrates the popular Bitcoin Pizza Day. On May 22, 2010, a Bitcoin developer and miner, Laszlo Hanyecz, purchased two Papa John’s pizzas for 10,000 BTC, worth approximately $41 at the time.
This marked the first documented Bitcoin transaction in the real world, and the Bitcoin community celebrated May 22 as Bitcoin Pizza Day.
Today, Hanyecz’s Bitcoins would be worth over $700 million.
