Brazil Central Bank Postpones Crypto Regulation Until End of Year
The Central Bank of Brazil announced on May 20 that it would delay its crypto regulations until the end of the year.
Last year, the central bank’s regulatory director, Otavio Damaso, told a congressional hearing that he expected the regulations to be ready by June.
The central bank is now taking a phased approach to regulation and will open a second public consultation, Reuters reported.
A first public consultation was launched in December 2023 and closed in January, on issues such as asset segregation.
