Charles Hoskinson Advocates Blockchain for Election Integrity
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson recently said that blockchain technology can increase voter confidence in election results while denouncing electronic voting systems. Hoskinson proposed a dual system in which blockchain and paper ballots monitor each other to ensure transparency and accuracy in vote counting.
Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recently reported numerous irregularities in Puerto Rico’s primary elections, identified through a paper trail. The president suggested using paper ballots to have a correct count and avoid electronic manipulation, he urged a system that ensures that all votes are counted correctly.

Blockchain technology, as highlighted by Hoskinson, offers a secure and transparent method of recording votes. Blockchain systems such as Cardano, Ethereum and Solana are designed to prevent manipulation and allow public verification of stored information. Integrating blockchain with paper ballots could create a robust system where digital and analog methods monitor each other.
Puerto Rico’s election commission is currently reviewing its contract with Dominion Voting Systems after software problems caused a mismatch in counting votes during the primaries which led to inaccurate results reported by machines, which were corrected using paper backups.
