SEC Crypto Assets Enforcement Officer Resigns
David Hirsch, head of the Crypto Asset and Cyber Unit within the Division of Enforcement of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), announced his departure after nearly nine years of service.
His tenure was marked by the management of several investigations, contributing significantly to the regulatory environment surrounding cryptocurrencies.

Reflecting on his time in the SEC, Hirsch Express proud of the achievements of the Crypto Assets and Cyber unit.
“I am particularly proud of the historic work accomplished by the Crypto Assets and Cyber Unit team that I have had the privilege of leading,” he said.
Hirsch attributes much of his success to collaboration efforts within the SEC and partnerships with state, federal and international regulators and law enforcement agencies.
His departure comes at a crucial time for the SEC as it aims to regulate the cryptocurrency market. His leadership of the Crypto Asset and Cyber Unit was instrumental in resolving important issues and developing the enforcement strategies the SEC uses today.
In his farewell message, Hirsch emphasized the importance of teamwork in securities law enforcement. He expressed his gratitude to his mentors, colleagues and friends who supported him throughout his career.
“Every success I have been a part of has been a direct result of collaboration and combined efforts toward a common goal,” Hirsch said.

Looking ahead, Hirsch is excited about future opportunities. However, he plans to take a break to spend time with his family. He concluded his message by hinting at upcoming challenges and projects, which he intends to share in the near future.
Hirsch’s departure leaves a notable vacancy in the SEC. His expertise and leadership have been instrumental in meeting the regulatory challenges posed by the growing cryptocurrency sector.
